Charting New Depths: Integrating EnTrust Global's Blue Ocean into Portfolios
The webcast will provide an overview of EnTrust Global’s maritime finance strategy (“Blue Ocean”). Blue Ocean – which is part of the firm’s broader maritime-focused Blue Ocean Group – was launched in August 2016 to capitalize on the demand for alternative sources of liquidity in this capital-intensive industry given the retrenchment of “traditional” bank lenders. Recognizing the need for specialized expertise to successfully target such opportunity, EnTrust identified industry veteran Svein Engh to lead the business.
The Blue Ocean strategy focuses mostly on private debt/direct lending opportunities in connection with small- and medium-sized companies in the maritime sector, including the origination of asset-backed financings and opportunistic purchases of such loans. In addition to the protection provided by hard assets, the targeted structures exhibit low correlation to traditional equities and fixed income, and also benefit from steady, predictable cash flows and robust financial covenants. The strategy also opportunistically invests in second lien, mezzanine, lease and equity structures.
Given the magnitude of the addressable market – global shipping represents a $1 trillion industry – and the ability to leverage the knowledge and network of EnTrust Global’s dedicated maritime specialists, EnTrust continues to expand the breadth of its Blue Ocean Group.

Svein Engh serves as the Head of the Blue Ocean Group at EnTrust Global, where he also takes on the roles of Portfolio Manager for the firm's Blue Ocean Group, and sits on both the firm's Management Committee and Global Investment Committee. Beyond his responsibilities at EnTrust Global, Engh contributes his expertise as a Senior Advisor and Board Member to Purus Marine, an eco-focused maritime company initiated by EnTrust Global's Blue Ocean 4 Impact strategy. He joined EnTrust Global in December 2015 as a Managing Director, bringing with him an impressive 35 years of experience in the industry. Prior to his tenure at EnTrust Global, Engh was a Managing Director and led the Maritime Lending and Leasing division at CIT. This followed his role as Chief Executive Officer at Octavian Maritime Holdings, Inc., where he managed a substantial lending and leasing portfolio. Engh's academic background includes earning both a BA and an MBA in Business Administration from Ohio University, where he was awarded the Distinguished Professor’s Scholarship and graduated with Honors.

Randy joined Entrust Global in January of 2024. He is the former President of the AFL-CIO Investment Trust Corporation (ITC), a service provider to the Union labor retirement investment community. He worked for the ITC and its sister organization the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust for a nearly 22 years. Randy also serves as an Executive Board Member for Holtz’s Heroes Foundation and Board Secretary of the Mikva Challenge National Board. He is proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. While studying at the University of Notre Dame, Randy participated in football and track and enjoyed a short NFL career with the Green Bay Packers & the Philadelphia Eagles. Randy and his family reside in Washington, D.C.
